Hero Shot
The hero shot depicts the overall form of the building and its placement in nature. As this shot encapsulates the whole structure, it conveys the sheer size of the building, extending both out of the cliff face and up into the sky. The use of glass, as well as open-air areas, is emphasised in this image as they play a key role in how the structure interacts with its surroundings. The stairs leading from the gallery space, composed of timber, to the concrete workshop space are currently in the shadows demonstrating the variation of light across the building due to the sun direction and the surrounding nature. Whilst rendering the structure, creating an environment with not only a cliff face but also water highlights the functional and aesthetic purposes certain design features such as the tubes and asymmetric walkway extending over the water.
Detail Shot
One of the key features of this design are the interlocking tubes that are embedded in the cliff face where its glass walls create a direct view of the surrounding nature. The use of sun height and heading demonstrates how natural light interacts with the tubes, creating further areas of light and shadow in the interior. The stairs leading to the below-ground space, also apparent in this image, follow the path of the tubes to connect the angular above ground structure with the curved below ground area. Similar to the above-ground space, concrete is a predominant material as its light tone contrasts the greenery of the surroundings and provides a neutral palette for the texture 'complex' used on specific walls as well as the brown timber to be striking.
