EXP 2 - Final Submission

Final Submission Theory A sanctuary for a cinematic experience is a product of a unique environment and an innovative approach to design. Real-Time Images Overall Structure - This side profile of the school explores its context, sitting parallel to ANZAC parade where tension wires span over across the road towards NIDA. The shape of the building has influences from the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and the innovative works of Calatrava with the incorporation of dominant concrete structures and light tension chords. Ground floor - Elevated above the ground, the school invites its visitors through an open grand staircase. At a low angle, the public can acknowledge the grand curved skeleton-like structure with its tension chords connecting it to the ground. EXP 2 - Moving Element Development

Moving Elements Currently, the two moving elements in the school are to create a multifunctional lecture space. When there is a lecture, the frosted glass sliding wall/door slides across and the curved wall slides up to close off the space. When there is no lecture, these two walls slide across or down to open the space to surrounding areas which allows the lecture hall to be used as a general study or relaxation space when not needed for teaching purposes. EXP 2 - Model Development

Developing the Initial Sketch Model This model was developed from the simple structure created out of six prisms. The overall organisation of the spaces was maintained, however, specific areas required by the brief have begun to be developed. Scenes from the Developed Model View from the lecture room, side walls will manipulate the light for example through frosted windows. The bridge-like structure that can be converted into a gallery space or classroom area. The side 'walls' create shadows onto the floor to embody the cinematic theme. View from a balcony area demonstrates the connection between the bridge element and the lecture hall. Main classroom space, the theme of the decorative supportive bars from the bridge continue into the main study space, linking the cantilevered space to the ground.
